BOOK KEEPING

For the past few weeks we were studying Book Keeping.  It is of vast importance and is therefore taught in nearly every school all over the country.

Book Keeping is an easy method of keeping a record of business transactions and is very important especially to a commercial community.  Whether a man gets on well in his business or not, generally depends on the keeping of his accounts.

It is not only necessary to business men, it is also necessary to persons in all positions of life.  Farmers and housekeepers want to keep their accounts as well as merchants and shop-keepers and a knowledge of Book Keeping is therefore necessary.  The first step a person ought to take when going to learn Book Keeping is the habit of neatness.

In business the books should be written plainly and neatly, free from flourish.  Neatness and accuracy should be carefully observed and wrong entries should not be scraped out as such may give rise to suspicion.  In our school we take a small portion of the subject each day and then we work samples on what we have learned.  We are taught to make our figures correctly and place them in the money columns so that the units may be under units, tens under tens etc.  But above all things we are taught to make or keep our copies spotlessly clean.
