This link https://youtu.be/RUl0UXd4iEg brings you to one of the films recorded for our digital mapping project for Heritage Week 2023.
Dr Christy Cunniffe, renowned archaeologist, takes us on a tour of the unique heritage site that is known as Kilnalahan. Established in 1252, this was the only Carthusian foundation in Ireland, and you will find many references to it in this website. It was subsequently owned by the Franciscans and the chapel was in use well into the 1800s. The building is now a ruin.
