Parochial House, Abbey

This is one of the stories recorded as part of our Heritage Week 2022 project.

Sadly the parochial house in Abbey is no longer occupied and in the current climate, with the reducing number of clergy nationwide, it is most unlikely that it will become a home to a priest in the future.

In the past, it was the home of the Parish Priest of the Abbey-Duniry parish and later when the parish priest moved to Duniry, it became home to the various curates who gave such wonderful service to the people of Abbey and district down through the years.

The video recording is courtesy of StoryTracks and we hope you will enjoy listening to the story of the ‘parochial house memory from the past’ which is narrated by Thérèse Murphy.
