White Soda Bread
Recipe from my Granny

Ingredients
- 1 lb Self-raising Flour
- 2 oz Margarine
- ½ teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 Egg
- ½ Pint Buttermilk
Method
Put all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Rub in the margarine. Beat the egg and add to the buttermilk. Add to dry ingredients, mix to form a nice stiff dough. Put onto a flowered baking tray. Place in a preheated oven Gas Mk9 – Electric 200oC or 350oF. Bake for 40 – 45 minutes lowering the heat to Gas Mk6 – Electric 190oC or 300oF after 5 or 6 minutes.
