My Great Granny was born in 1929, she is now 89 years old. Granny told me many stories of her early childhood.
People lived in small houses with thatched roofs and big open fireplaces. If they had a farm they reared pigs and chickens for food. Granny and her family also grew all their own vegetables and potatoes.
When they went to the bog they cut turf for the home fire. The fireplace had a crane made of metal. They hung their pots on the crane with the fire beneath. Granny said she loved cooking especially a big chicken that was reared on the farm.
