Brownie

Nana Nellie's Recipe

Dearbhail Salmon

Chocolate Brownie

When we were young my Nana Nellie used to make Brownies and we loved it. We loved to help her and watch her make Brownies.  When she was finished the Brownie we used to lick the spoon and bowl.

We would help Nana tidy up and we would sit and chat and wait for the Brownies to cook.  Nana would take them from the oven and put them on a wire tray to cool.  Then when they were cool we would have tea and Brownies.

Ingredients

  • 125g (4½oz) Butter
  • 200g Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • Teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 5 tablespoons Coco powder, chocolate
  • 60g Flour
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder

Method

Preheat oven 160oC 320oF or Gas 3

Melt Butter/Margarine and Chocolate over low heat.  Remove from heat and add sugar and mix well.  Add vanilla essence, egg and chopped walnuts.  Sieve flour, salt and baking powder and gently stir into chocolate mixture.  Put in the oven for half an hour to forty five minutes.
