When my Dad was younger my Granny used to make rhubarb sauce for him. You could put ice-cream with it and it is very nice. My Dad used to have it every Sunday after their roast dinner.
My Granny used to grow rhubarb outside along with many other fruits and vegetables. My Dad, his Dad and one of his brothers picked them and brought them into their Mom for cooking. My Granny gave some to all our relations. My granduncle used to grow them too. This is my Granny’s recipe.
- Lemon Peel
- Nut Meg
- Ice Cream
In a small saucepan, bring sugar and water to boil. Add rhubarb, cook and stir for 10 minutes until rhubarb has thickened. Remove from heat and stir in lemon peel and nut meg. Serve over pound cake or with ice cream.
