Abbey Heritage is grateful to Hugh Donohue for the above photo with the following caption:

The Anglo/Norman Coolfin Castle was seized from Ulick, the third Earl of Clanrickard in 1608. The Griffiths Map records the spot height of 175 feet and an historic Lime Kiln. The castle being in a sorry state of ruination and rarely documented, is fertile ground for research and support, before it is lost forever.
