A SMILE
A smile has the same effect on the face of a person as the sun has on a portion of land. Everyone knows how beautiful it is to take a walk on a summer’s morning when the sun is just beginning to throw out its brilliant beams over the surrounding district, making every old clump of ivy look like some ancient old ruin.
When a person smiles and feels it in his heart, it cheers, brightens and gladdens him. A smile is sometimes produced by the sight of some familiar friend or companion such a smile is said to be a beautiful one as it comes straight from the heart.
Nothing makes a person so unhappy as a forced smile, one definition of such is pretending to be amused at something which does not really amuse you at all. There are different kinds of smiles as a mother’s smile which is so affectionate and loving to an obedient child who, no matter what she is told to do, always answers ‘yes’; a child’s smile, the smile of old age, the bitter smile etc.
There are many powers and virtues attached to a smile. For instance it cheers and warms the unhappy and gives energy to the discontented. Nothing makes the home so happy as whenever you look at father, mother, sister or brother you receive a smile in return. If a person be contented and happy he will always gain the beautiful smile and how preferable is that face to the dark frowning one.
