The Delia Mahon Collection

Delia Mahon - 5th or 6th class student

Cheerfulness is a virtue which everyone should try to possess.  It is not only a blessing to ourselves and others but also a duty we owe to our family, friends and acquaintances.  Everyone can possess it even the poorest and the plainest, it requires no wealth or beauty, but is a gem able to supply the loss of either.

It is cheerfulness that crowns a welcome and it is the chief beauty in kindness.  Altogether it does not give actual happiness, it does more good than a rely on some sorrow or grief and is a most valuable quality whether one really possesses it or pretends to.  It is an old saying and a true one “cheerful looks make every dish a feast”.
