USE OF HISTORY

History is valuable to us in order that we may value our freedom, for when we read the history of our country and see what people in the past ages suffered for it, it will surely make us value our freedom.

It also helps us to take an interest in the causes which go to improve the condition of our country such as, spreading of knowledge and religious changes.

The object of history is to point out the causes of improvement and to show us the actions of the great dead, who perhaps may be dead some hundreds of years and still their words and deeds live and grow in the brave hearts of the present age.  If the story of those courageous men have not been told to them by their ancestors and descended from one generation to another, those useful and  interesting events may be found in Histories, as there are Histories of nearly every nation all over the earth.

The Old Testament is the first History of the world.  All  ancient Histories should be read and compared and different authors on the same subject be studied.
