MY XMAS VAC
Since the month of December arrived we were looking forward with delight to our Christmas vacation which we got on the 20th of the month.
It was lovely to go to early Mass Christmas morning, it was so fine, to hear the choir sing, the church looked beautiful, it was decorated with holly and ivy, flowers, banners etc. There were also some stars which looked beautiful when the candles were all lighted.
There came snow in great abundance on St Stephen’s day which kept most of the wren boys from going out. But even so it did not come without pleasures as we could be throwing snow balls, making out-door Christmas trees decorating them all over with snow which shone and sparkled in the sun. We also had the pleasure of leaving out a board full of crumbs for the starving little birds.
The children stopped at home from school full of resolutions to help their parents as Christmas is a busy time, but the vacation is over now and we find we did not do very much.
The school was opened on the 10th January. All the girls seemed to like to begin the New Year well, all eager to commence hard work.
