FLOWERS

Everyone in the world has a most extraordinary love for flowers.  They are merely the blossoms of some plant or shrub, which may be either cultivated or uncultivated.

From the youngest to the oldest, appreciates their brilliant colours and delightful perfumes.  How much pleasure they afford us, either in our homes or our gardens!  If some flowers are in a vase on a table all the sunshine coming into the room seems to settle on them, delighting the eyes of the onlooker.

Even a little child walking through a garden, flowers are the first thing that will catch his eyes and he has no more sense than to pluck the heads off them.

What is more delightful than to take a walk through the flowers and under the long shady trees on a summer evening, when nothing disturbs the stillness of the evening except the hum of the bees, flitting through the flowers gathering all the honey that remains after the scorching day.

A walk on such an evening reminds us of the beauty and happiness of Heaven and the goodness of God who gives us such beautiful things even in this world.
